All of this and much more are included on this France tour that starts and ends in Paris and has overnights also in Bayeux, St. Malo, the Loire Valley, Bordeaux, Lourdes, Nîmes, Monte Carlo, Lyon, and Dijon.

A French vacation would not be complete without a visit to a castle and on this tour, you’ll visit the 16th-century castle of Catherine de Medici, Chenonceau, a fairytale castle with a moat and towers.

You’ll also visit the famous Abbey of Mont St. Michel, A UNESCO World Heritage Site situated on a rocky isle that has been a pilgrimage site for centuries.

Another famous place of pilgrimage is Lourdes. Here, visit the grotto where the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette in 1858 and at night, join the rosary and candlelight procession—a memorable and special experience offered by us.

Another out-of-the-ordinary experience on this French tour is a lecture about perfume-making from an expert at one of France’s most famous perfume factories.

In Lyon, you’ll take a private river cruise with a Local Guide who will explain the sights.

Day 1Arrive in Paris, France

Welcome to Paris! At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions, and leave the hotel for a welcome dinner with wine at one of Paris’ lively restaurants. Then, enjoy an orientation drive to get a first impression of the “City of Light.”

Day 2Paris

Guided sightseeing features the highlights of Paris, like the Arc de Triomphe, Opéra, Madeleine, and Champs-Elysées. Visit magnificent NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL and admire its Rose Window, and for a panoramic view, take the elevator to the second floor of the EIFFEL TOWER. Optional excursions are available to the impressive Palace and Gardens of Versailles, built by the “Sun King,” Louis XIV, as well as to the artists’ hill of Montmartre, followed by a cruise on the beautiful Seine River.

Day 3Paris–Honfleur–Bayeux

A pleasant drive through the rural area west of Paris takes you to Honfleur with its enclosed harbor. Time to explore this picturesque town before heading to Bayeux, where you can admire QUEEN MATILDA’S TAPESTRY, depicting in extraordinary detail William the Conqueror’s conquest of England.

Day 4Bayeux–Normandy Beaches–Mont St. Michel–St. Malo

On to the Normandy Beaches, scene of the Allied Forces’ landing on D-Day, June 6, 1944, stop at OMAHA BEACH and visit the AMERICAN CEMETERY. Then, continue to the famous ABBEY OF MONT ST. MICHEL, spectacularly perched on a rocky isle in the Gulf of Saint Malo, and enjoy an included lunch.

Day 5St. Malo–Angers–Loire Valley

Enjoy a scenic drive through Brittany to the Loire Valley. Stop in Angers for an orientation of this beautiful town on your way to Blois. This evening you may wish to sample traditional cuisine at a local restaurant.

Day 6Loire Valley–Chenonceau Castle–Bordeaux

Visit the 16th-century castle of Catherine de Medici, lovely CHENONCEAU, a fairytale castle with a moat and towers. Continue to Bordeaux, and join your Tour Director for a walking tour through this pretty city on the Garonne River. Tonight, savor Globus Local Favorite dinner with wine at the well-known Brasserie Bordelaise restaurant.

Day 7Bordeaux. Excursion to St. Emilion

In the morning you can join an optional excursion to Arcachon. Situated at the southern entrance of the Atlantic Ocean, Arcachon Bay is crowned by Europe’s largest sand dune, the Dune de Pyla. This afternoon, your highlight is a visit to St. Emilion, where an exclusive WINE TASTING at Château Soutard awaits you.

Day 8Bordeaux–Biarritz–Lourdes

A wonderful stop at the coast to visit Biarritz, an ancient fishing village turned trendy seaside resort. Continue to Lourdes, one of the world’s most famous places of pilgrimage. Visit the GROTTO where the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette in 1858, and this evening, Globus Local Favorite join the memorable rosary and candlelight procession.

Day 9Lourdes–Carcassonne–Nîmes

From Lourdes to the beautifully preserved, medieval, walled town of Carcassonne for a leisurely walk by the ancient battlements and time to explore the town on your own. Continue to Nîmes for your overnight stay. Find out what both this city and Genoa, in Italy, have to do with jeans!

Day 10Nîmes–Grasse–Nice–Monte Carlo, Monaco

This morning, arrive in Grasse, and visit the famous Fragonard Usine Historique, where Globus Local Favorite an expert will give a lecture about PERFUME-MAKING. Later, head for Nice, and drive along the famous Promenade des Anglais. Spend the next two nights in Monte Carlo.

Day 11Monte Carlo

Enjoy this enchanting resort on the Côte d’Azur at your own pace. Browse through the elegant shops or you may wish to join an optional excursion to the famous artist town of St. Paul de Vence.

Day 12Monte Carlo–Aix-En-Provence, France–Lyon

Drive through the splendid vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon and arrive at Aix-en-Provence, one of France’s most elegant cities. It was the birthplace of painter Cézanne, and has always attracted artists from all over the world. Follow your Tour Director for a walking tour through the center of the town. Then, join the main highway of France, the Route du Soleil, to Lyon, and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and its Roman ruins from FOURVIÈRE HILL

Day 13Lyon–Dijon

Start today with Globus Local Favorite a PRIVATE RIVER CRUISE with a Local Guide who will explain the sights. Time to walk through OLD LYON and see the Murales, examples of trompe l’oeil, started by a group of students in the ‘70s. Continue to Dijon, capital of Burgundy. During your orientation, hear about the various dukes who ruled over the area, then there is time to browse the shops and enjoy this charming city.

Day 14Dijon–Paris

Enjoy a ride on the high-speed TGV TRAIN to Paris. Tonight, dinner and a lively cabaret show at one of Paris’ nightclubs might just be the ticket!

Day 15Paris

Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning.

Dinner and Show at Moulin Rouge Enjoy an unforgettable evening at the world-renowned Moulin Rouge, home of the French Can Can for more than a century. Dinner with half a bottle of wine is served during the show and a glass of champagne completes your evening in style.

Excursion to The Palace of Versailles Travel out of Paris to the lavish 17th-century baroque Palace of Versailles, built by the Sun King, Louis XIV, with its magnificent State Apartments, Hall of Mirrors, and Royal Chapel. Your Local Guide will bring its history to life during your visit, then time at leisure to stroll through parts of the elegant 250-acre gardens. Louis XIII originally purchased Versailles and its surrounding land to serve as his hunting lodge. Later, his son, Louis XIV, decided to make it his seat of government, and in 1682, he installed his impressive court and numerous noble visitors in sumptuous surroundings, a symbol of absolute monarchy. Wii, Atlantic Wall and Artificial Port A short drive will take you to Longues sur mer where you will see one of the best preserved parts of Hitler’s notorious Atlantic Wall: a four-strong gun battery. Completed in April 1944, this group of bunkers, armed with 152mm navy guns, was supposed to stop the Allied attack on D Day. Then on to Arromanches, a charming seaside resort famous for the remains of its artificial port: Mulberry. Constructed right after the landings, it was used to bring in over 2.5 million men and 4 million tons of supplies providing much needed reinforcements in France, a major step in the liberation of Europe. A chance to sample Normandy specialties in the local restaurants during your free time in the town before returning to Bayeux.

The Great Dune of Pyla and Arcachon One of the marvels of the Aquitaine region is the Great Dune of Pyla, the tallest sand dune in Europe. It stretches its 60 million cubic meters of fine sand on nearly 1.7 miles (2.7 kilometers) from south to north, 0.4 miles (500 meters) from west to east, and soars as high as 384 feet (117 meters). For the most athletic visitors, climbing up this slope is a real challenge. For others, a staircase makes the ascent a little easier. At the top, the view is spectacular, showcasing the coast, the vast pine forest of Les Landes, and, when the weather is clear, the Pyrenees range. Later, visit Arcachon, one of the most relaxed and beautiful beach towns on the Côte d’Argent (Silver Coast).

Guaranteed air-inclusive prices: air is only available to passengers traveling from the United States and only available when booked in conjunction with a land vacation. An additional $300 per person non-refundable air deposit is required for Flex Air booked in conjunction with any land vacation (i.e. air-inclusive vacation). Air can only be booked by the tour company in conjunction with a vacation package. Instant Purchase Air requires air payment in full at time of booking (i.e. air-inclusive vacation) plus non-refundable service fee ($30 per person for North America, $50 per person for International air).
